Blue SoundContained

I have been working for a year designing a portable electroacoustic sound studio inside a commercial boat container to be an immersive multichannel sound system inside of it, designed to be a portable studio for production, as well as soundart micro hall for artistic, educational and experimentation purposes. With a 360 degrees array of speakers will make of it the most advance immersive sound systems in Slovenia, allowing to be use as a multiple applications, ranging from sound production, to virtual reality experimentation sound boot.

The container is thought to be a traveler hall for sound education where workshops can held, aimed to create new audiences and initiate newcomers into the aesthetics of this forms of art with sound, as well to learn the tools of computer generated sound control in the space that will allow to experiment with physical sound location as part of today’s state-of-the-art sound design.

In terms of software, the space will be based on purposely commissioned 3D-Audio software to the Swedish sound artist Åke Parmerud, called HyperBlueSpace HUB.

Project Outline

Conceptually speaking, the space it’s conceived as a musical instrument due to it’s particular speaker array, merging in one micro hall, on one side it contains the musical poetry of the Acousmonium (orchestra of speakers) conceived by Francois Bayle and the immersive possibilities of today’s tools of multichannel aided composition of halls like The Cube at ZKM in Germany, powered by sound distribution algorithms like Ambisonics

The construction of the project will be made between Mauricio Valdés who is based in Ljubljana, Slovenia and the architect&artist Rodrigo Solís based on Oslo, Norway, who has design the container.
