Media system designer / composer / sound researcher established in Ljubljana, Slovenia since 2011.
His career has been developed around different artistic areas with a special emphasis in acoustic, electroacoustic and experimental music His catalog includes works for solo instrument, ensemble, mix media, guided improvisation, installation, film,
performance and assorted performing arts. His works had been presented in 19 countries within the official program of festivals, conferences and symposia near music and sound art.
He was part of the first Composition and Technology bachelor’s degree effort in Mexico in the mid 90’s, since then his work combines high content of technology and software improvement.
Since 2006 he had collaborated with programers on developing tools for improvisation with computers. Starting with Hugo Solis with Moz-art.Global.Sound-art at the Music Technology Group in Barcelona, a web-multi-user platform for audio-visual collective improvisation by sending control data between users.
In 2009 he worked along-with Miller Puckette who was resident researcher at Instrumenta Oaxaca, working on Simple-GriD, a multiuser sequencer.
In 2010, with the support of the Mexican FONCA fellowship grants, he produces the ARENERO software, a stand-alone sound manipulation sequencer for the practice and education of sound-art and free-improvisation. He was awarded as fellow composer at FONCA state Grants in Mexico for 4 times (2000, 2002, 2004 and 2010); PHONOS resident composer of the foundation at the University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain between 2004 and 2006 where he composed some interactive pieces and collaborate as Monitor of the Masters degree on Digital Sound and Composition. He was the first Latin American to serve as Music Chair at the ICMC in 2012, in Ljubljana and in 2006 as stage manager of the OFF-ICMC in Barcelona; Founding member of AARSOM (Association of Mexican Sound Art).Resident Artists in 2015 of the cultural center Casa Vecina supported by the Carlos Slim Foundation. In 2017 was awarded with Ibermusicas grant to do a Composition residency at Fundación Telefónica in Lima, Perú. Member of the research group for electroacoustic music at the University of Guanajuato LIM, led by Roberto Morales (1995 to 2001). -Worked as Stage Manager of the Guanajuato University’s Symphonic Orchestra (2001-2004) under the music direction of José Luis Castillo. In 2007 he starts collaborating at MUAC at National University Museum in Mexico City to create the only multichannel sound space in Mexico, the Experimental Sound Space EES. Worked from 2007-2012 at the summer camp and academy of chamber music Instrumenta Oaxaca as Artistic Coordinator where he later became Music Director before moving to Slovenia.Sound-Design and Object-oriented programming teacher at his alma mater, the University of Guanajuato (digital arts department) from (2007-20015). Multiple Resident Teacher at Superior Arts School, Mérida, Yucatán (2004-2011). Was guest lecture of the St. Pölten University in Austria at the Media Department in 2016. In Slovenia he is a regular collaborator at the Ljubljana University and other related related institutes and NGO’s of the country; Zavod Sploh, Radio Cona, MOTA. Kino Siska, Kapelica, to mention some.
In 2015 he started the Blue Sound-Hub at the Pocket Teater Studio, and in 2016 in collaboration with Cankarejv Dom of Ljubljana, Slovenia, a cycle supported by the Mexican Embassy in Vienna. The hub pretends to bring an itinerant, open and neutral space for promotion, research and education, mainly regarding multi-channel sound art and music. In collaboration with Zavod Sploh in 2020, the cycle Zvokotok will be entirely dedicate to multi-sources sound pieces.
